PRESS RELEASE
Kush AbaKush perform at Rototom Sunsplash, Benicassim, Spain
on August 17th .

After a teaser of a chant to whet the palette, performed in acapella by the three
vocalists, Angela Wynter, Jenny J and Nisha K, which left the audience in no doubt of
the spectacular performance in store, the musical feast began with the drums of
percussionist, Ras Fari soon joined by the commanding melody from guitarist Cozmic C. One by one the musicians, joined the musical treat just before the crescendo into
the vocalists entering the stage, dancing to the entrancing melody of Zulu. Zulu is one of the bands successful hit tunes written in the 1980s.
The 8 strong band hit the crowds with tune after tune, each with a different lick but
same impactful presence. Each with a message.
A rendition of Dennis Brown’s Promise Land was gratefully received by the audience
and classic tunes like Batta Dem sent shockwaves through the stage which spilled
into the mass of people.
Engaging and interacting with the audience throughout the show , the band also paid
tribute to the birthday anniversary of Marcus Mosiah Garvey and made mention of
Nelson Mandela after whom the tune Fly was written.
Highlights of the performance included dub sequences led by drummer, Zion and
Bassie Skiddim , plus previews of two tunes soon to be released by the band, Praying
to Jah and Fix It.
Such was the success of their performance with time almost up, the band was compelled to perform the ever popular Rock Attack to the delight of the audience who
sang and danced along to the tune made popular in the 1980s and revived with
renditions of the tune popping up across the globe!
Manager of Kush AbaKush, Clive Plummer said “What a show. What a night. What a
performance! I expected and am accustomed to no less than that!
